He LOVES me…

“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” – 1 John 4:18 (NIV)

So… God and I have this thing going. He sends me hearts. Yes. Hearts. In various ways and places.

It started at a family weekend in Parys. I went for a walk alone and sat next to the river watching the sunset. I spent some time just chatting to God and asking Him to show me that He loves me. I know that the greater my revelation of His perfect love for me is, the less I will have fear, in any form or shape, in my life. On my way back to the chalet I looked up and saw it in the clouds.

The next one was at a team breakaway for the pastoral team of my church. I opened a bag of chips while we were chatting, and the first chip I took out of the packet was shaped like a heart. I told some of my friends about the first heart in the cloud and we just kind of laughed about the chip. And yes, I ate it. 🙂

The next one was while I was visiting a friend of mine in the Western Cape. One night I could not sleep and went outside to read and pray for a while. I asked God to just show me again that He loves me. I spent some time praying and went back inside to get some sleep. When I woke up, I saw a petal of a flower shaped like a heart on my Bible. Turns out that my friend went running early in the morning and she saw the petal while running, she turned around and picked it up and brought it home for me, unaware of my conversation with God in the wee hours of the morning.

One morning, as I was praying with a friend of mine, I saw a vision of a daddy and daughter playing in a meadow with white flowers. He picked up the little girl and held her in the air. They ran around playing and she was laughing, having fun. God told me as I saw that vision:

“You are that little girl and I’m your Daddy. You are safe and secure in my arms and in my presence. You don’t need to worry about whether you’ll sleep warm, have enough to eat, or about what will happen tomorrow. I am taking care of you. I love you more than you will ever know. I delight in your presence just as you delight in My presence.”

In my French class a week later my teacher said she wants to play me a song. It is a French song obviously and is sung by a well-known French artist. The name of the song is Mon Enfant, which means My Child. She told me that he is singing about his love for his little girl. As the song played she translated some of the words for me. I was so moved by the words and melody of the song and by how applicable it was to my life at that specific moment that I cried while it played.

#that-awkward-moment-when-you-cry-in-french-class 🙂

So I told Madame Heidi about the vision I saw of God being my Daddy and how applicable this song is.

Some lyrics of the song in English:

Love is everywhere you look
In every corner of the space
In every dream you linger in
There’s love galore

There’s only one thing for which I’m meant to be
I loved, I love and I will love you

In this life and the next
You’ll be my only plan
I’ll go and hang your portraits
On all the ceilings of all the palaces

I loved, I love and I will love you

I left my class that morning and headed to my next appointment sobbing. Luckily it was with a friend whom I also pray with weekly. I had to compose myself and tell her what happened and as I told her the waterworks continued. She smiled at me and said there is a book that I should read….

The book’s front cover….

It is really an amazing book about the love God has for us. I can really recommend it! I haven’t finished reading it yet, but it has already blessed me a lot. 🙂

There is a very famous verse in Nehemiah 8 about the joy of the Lord. Another friend of mine gave some new insight into this verse.

The joy of the Lord is my strength = The fact that God delights in you gives your heart strength.

His perfect love and delight in you – accepted in the Beloved – strengthens your heart and causes you to be courageous.

“Who shall separate us from the love Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? No, in ALL THESE THINGS we are MORE THAN CONQUERORS through HIM who LOVED us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in ALL CREATION will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8:35, 37-39

NOTHING can EVER separate you from HIS LOVE.

“The Lord our God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17 (NIV)

During this time God’s been affirming my identity of being a daughter in His house. More on that coming soon…

Do you genuinely believe He loves you?

Are you trying to earn His love?

Do you sometimes doubt that He loves you?
