Music, Life & Love…

OVERCOME – Jeremy Camp

Seated above, enthroned in the Father’s love
Destined to die, poured out for all mankind

God’s only Son perfect and spotless One
He never sinned, but suffered as if He did

All authority, every victory is Yours
All authority, every victory is Yours

CHORUS:
Saviour, worthy of honour and glory,
Worthy of all our praise, You overcame
Jesus, awesome in power forever,
Awesome and great is Your name,
You overcame

Power in hand speaking the Father’s plan
You’re sending us out, light in this broken land

We will overcome by the blood of the Lamb
and the word of our testimony,
everyone overcome

~

Music makes me come alive.

It happens so many times that God would be talking to me about something, and somehow out of the blue I would hear a gem of a song, and it resonates with what’s in my heart to such an extent that I’m completely overwhelmed.

Music amplifies everything.

When I’m in love, love songs make the love more intense. When I’m sad, any sad song increases the pain (that’s why I don’t really listen to sad songs. At all. There is no fun in being a masochist.) When I’m excited about something, every praise or upbeat song strengthens my belief and stirs faith even more.

I heard this song by Jeremy Camp the other day and I was completely overwhelmed. I’ve pressed the repeat button so many times since hearing it for the first time, and I’m still not tired of it. My cousin calls it an earworm 🙂

As the song played I was picturing myself in heaven just praising Jesus, caught up in the splendour of His glory. I suddenly had a vision that was very vivid and felt so real.

As I was standing there worshipping, I just quickly glanced to my left and right and saw a huge crowd of people also praising Him. I recognised some of the people whom I knew that had already died, and also saw friends and family who are still alive, and I thought to myself: “Wow, isn’t this just amazing. Here I am worshipping God with all my loved ones.” Then my eyes glanced over the anonymous multitudes and Jesus said to me:”These are all the people that will be touched by your life on earth with My love. I love them unconditionally, and died for them to be reconciled to Me, for them to have hope and a future, to experience life in abundance, to be whole in body, mind and spirit, to stand here and worship Me with you, but they don’t know it. You need to show them what My love looks like.”

I was just so assured in my heart again of Jesus calling me and sending me out as a light in the darkness. Just our presence as children of God makes an impact in people’s lives. We have all authority through Jesus Christ.

Jesus is the answer to the hopelessness people feel, and He is the satisfaction for our emptiness.

Ephesians 1:4 (The Message)

“Long before He laid down earth’s foundations, He had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of His love, to be made whole and holy by His love.”
